Vitamin B3 Niacin, Niacinamide, Nicotinamide good for your skin

Vitamin B3 to reduce non-melanoma skin cancers
Taking a vitamin B3 can reduce your rate of skin cancer according to a study by NIH. With so much skin cancer on the rise, sunscreen can only protect us so much. According to the NIH study, Nicotinamide reduced the rates of new basal-cell cancer and squamous-cell cancer diagnoses by 23% compared with placebo (P = .02). Nicotinamide reduced the rates of actinic keratoses (precancers) by 11% at 3 months and by approximately 15% after 12 months of treatment compared with placebo.
There are three forms of Vitamin B3 known as Niacin, Niacinamide, Nicotinamide. Look for the flush free form of Niacin, or better yet find the supplement in the nicotinamide form for the greatest bioavailability. VitB3 also lowers cholesterol and blood sugar with no side effects.

Vitamin B3 Serum topical treatment for AKs
I have witnessed great success in using topical VitB3 serum on AKs in my own practice. Softening and reducing the progression of the lesion. The patient continues to be monitored. This gives them an alternative to the very unsightly and uncomfortable topical efudex treatment which many simply refuse to undergo citing reasons of cannot go to work looking like that. Some older patients also prefer not to go around looking worse and being very uncomfortable with the postefudex side effects. Vitamin B3 serum and supplements offers a soothing and cosmetically pleasing alternative.
